Always more a tomboy than a girly girl, makeup and hair were not something I paid a lot of attention to. Until I met my previous roommate eleven years ago. She would tell you I was work. So much work. Even clothing. To get me to buy into jeans was a huge commitment on her part. I've come a long way since her intervention, and I'm still learning.
My view of makeup changed from something you put on to cover freckles to something you use to make art when I saw this Shu Uemura ad at a department store in Taiwan in 2015.

Can I do that? For EA Christmas party. The answer was yes. At $26 a pot, I bought three metallic liquid eyeliners: red, blue, and gold. Combined with the hair foam rollers, I had this for the Circus themed event.
The super talented Mindy Lee (someone needs to snatch her up for a runway show already!) helped me pick out a sequin dress. Here is at the party with my lovely friend Sylvia.
So then it began. Every party is a challenge to do something fun and different. My source of inspiration: Shu Uemura. As fans cosplay at comic or anime conventions, I replicated Shu's work on my eyelids, which aren’t the easiest to work with. My lids fold inward so much the eyeliners barely visible if it’s not at least half-inch thick. This means I need extra ink. The eyeliner from the brand is the only one that lasts for me.
My cosmetics: foundation, powder, eyeshadow, blush, lipsticks/gloss, brow and eyeliners. The basics.
My high tech hair tools.
No mascara, fake eyelashes, or elaborate makeup kits or hair extensions required. And I try to reuse what I have as much as possible, including my wardrobe. This section shares my adventures in the costume and style department.
